Course 1: Self-Healing Through Taoist Practices: Techniques to Support Emotional Health
January 7 & 8, 2023 from 9:00am-5:30pm ET
We will study, discuss and practice certain Taoist techniques that bring about health and healing to our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. In these practical workshops you will have the opportunity to learn the various techniques that will serve as functions to support your own healing and the healing of others.
Topics include:
- An overview of the history of Taoist healing practices
- How to apply breath and visualization to bring about balance to our psycho-emotional nature
- Learn Taoist self-healing techniques through the lens of the 5 elements
- How to identify the changes in our emotional and mental bodies
- How to apply 5 element qi gong practices into our daily lives
Course 2: Self-Healing Through Taoist Practices: Techniques to Support Spiritual Awakening
April 1 & 2, 2023 from 9:00am-5:30pm ET
We will study, discuss and practice certain Taoist techniques that bring about health and healing to our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. These courses consist of lecture, discussion, breath and movement techniques, acupressure and guided imagery.
Topics Include:
- An overview of the history of Taoist healing practices
- Provide a deeper understanding of the five spirits as spiritual messengers
- A brief historical understanding of spirit shamanism and mysticism
- An understanding of wu shen (5 spirits) and its relationship to the chakra system
- To provide practice techniques with acupressure, qi gong, guided imagery and breath work
Course 3: Self-Healing Through Taoist Practices: Techniques to Support Physical Health
Days and times TBD
We will study, discuss and practice certain Taoist techniques that bring about health and healing to our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. In these practical workshops you will have the opportunity to learn the various techniques that will serve as functions to support your own healing and the healing of others.
Topics include:
- An overview of the history of Taoist healing practices
- How to apply these practices to the physical body through acupressure
- How to identify the changes in the meridian system
- How to apply breath and visualization to enhance the Taoist practices
Instructor
All three courses will be taught by Rev. Dr. Diane Rooney. She is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DOM), licensed acupuncturist, reiki master, licensed massage therapist, board certified herbologist, certified aromatherapist, and nationally certified reflexologist. She is ordained as an interspiritual minister, is a second-year dean at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary and holds a doctorate of ministry in Taoism and Self-Healing Practices.
Diane has a background in working in Pediatric Oncology/Hematology providing acupuncture and integrative healthcare to patients and their families as well as the staff at both St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in New Jersey and New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
Before moving to Santa Fe, NM, Diane had been a senior faculty member at Tri-State college of Acupuncture as well as an independent teacher of the Eastern healing techniques and Taoism for over 20 years.
Diane has her own private acupuncture practice and is a full professor at Southwest College of Acupuncture in Santa Fe, NM.
She holds the 2014 award for Worldwide Leader in Health Care, Top Integrative Acupuncturist. She is co-author to many books and research articles on the effectiveness of Chinese Medicine.
Her passion, in addition to studying and practicing Taoism is teaching self-healing techniques which include qi gong, breathwork, meditation, visualization, reiki, chakra healing, mental color therapy and internal alchemy.
