4:30pm: Doors and Halloween experience

Sundown (that’s 5:56pm if you want to be specific about when it’s safe to open your coffin): Movie

The movie is 94 minutes long

Celebrate Halloween weekend with a special screening of “Nosferatu,” the original vampire movie partially based on Bram Stoker’s novel “Dracula,” during its 100th anniversary year.

The silent movie will be accompanied by live organ as part of our “Restoring the Wonder” campaign to raise $35,000 to continue work on our historic Robert Morton theatre organ, one of American’s few remaining original theatre organs.

All proceeds will go toward the campaign to begin returning restored pipes to the house left organ chamber with the New York Theatre Organ Society.

Come early for our Halloween shenanigans co-imagined with BBQ Films, our programming partner from “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” (Yes! There will be a costume parade across the stage!)

“Nosferatu” is considered one of the pinnacles of German Expressionist filmmaking. It famously ran afoul of Bram Stoker’s estate which won a settlement against the producers for borrowing too freely from the classic novel.

The movie stars Max Schreck, Alexander Granach, Gustav von Wangenheim, and Greta Schröder. It is directed by F.W. Murnau and written by Henrik Galeen based on Bram Stoker’s "Dracula."

We will screen the 2007 restored version of the movie on DCP.

Organ accompaniment will be performed by Brett Miller, who has both attended and performed organ concerts and silent films since the age of 10. Each summer he attends the American Theatre Organ Society’s Summer Youth Adventure featuring instruction from Jelani Eddington, Jonas Nordwall, Martin Ellis, Chris Elliot and Donna Parker. Along with his brother, Evan, he has founded musicalpromise.org a musical initiative to help fund the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Brett has played as a featured organist at his church; at the Rainbow Room Wurlitzer in Rahway, N.J.; at the Brook Performing Arts Center Wurlitzer in Bound Brook, N.J.; at the Landmark Loew’s Jersey Theatre Wonder Morton in Jersey City; at the Hansen Allen residence organ in Manchester, N.J.; and at the Heitz residence Wurlitzer Hybrid TPO in New Hope, PA.
