This salon features performances by Hiram Delgado (HOMESICK, NEW AMSTERDAM), and Broadway sensation Kara Young (Clyde’s, Purlie Victorious), as well as a brief presentation on The Classical Theatre of Harlem in anticipation of our FREE 25th Anniversary production launching in Marcus Garvey Park this July. Beverages will be served.


ICONS is a podcast series of personal monologues in the voice of artists and writers from northern Manhattan curated and directed by Classical Theatre of Harlem Literary Director Shawn Rene Graham. Following our 2022 Icons: Harlem Renaissance in Motion Project featuring short original monologues based on figures from the Harlem Renaissance as part of our Behind the Curtain series. Behind the Curtain is the digital hub for theatre performances, education, and interviews meant to inspire, entertain, and educate. We are proud to now be launching our second season with a focus on Hispanic and Latinx voices. Icons 2: El Barrio Lives! is meant explore the rich history of East Harlem, by commissioning six writers of Latinx descent to breathe life into unknown figures that contributed to the unique history of this community that is still evident today from the great migration of from the Caribbean and Latin America in the early-to-mid 1900s.
