Fasten your seatbelts! MOVIES AT THE UNITED PALACE returns in grand fashion with the Oscar-winning 1950 classic, All About Eve. Selected for MOVIES AT THE UNITED PALACE by our online voters, All About Eve details the backstage drama surrounding theater legend Margo Channing (a star turn by Bette Davis), when an ambitious young actress, Eve Harrington (Ann Baxter), tries to take over Margo’s career and love life. All About Eve received a record fourteen Academy Award nominations and won six, including Best Picture. All About Eve is the only film in Oscar history to receive four female acting nominations (Davis and Baxter for Best Actress, with Celeste Holm and Thelma Ritter for Best Supporting Actress). Directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, the film also stars George Sanders, Gary Merrill and screen legend Marilyn Monroe in her first significant film role!

 

By now you may have heard, shortly after we announced that the legendary Patti LuPone would be Lin-Manuel Miranda’s special guest to introduce All About Eve, Ms. LuPone announced that she tested positive for COVID and will be unable to attend the March 6 screening.

 

As we wish Ms. LuPone a speedy recovery, we can’t help but be reminded of the old Broadway adage, “The show must go on.” And so, we are pleased to announce that in place of Ms. LuPone, we are honored to have Broadway royalty Bebe Neuwirth and Laura Benanti to help Lin-Manuel introduce the film and share insider experiences from their incomparable careers in theater.

 

This screening is FREE with tickets reserved online. Please note there is a limit of 6 tickets per order and seating is general, on a first-come, first-served basis.

All About Eve kicks off the first of six screenings in the return of MOVIES AT THE UNITED PALACE, which continues Sunday, April 10, 2022, with The Greatest Showman. Additional dates and special guests will be announced throughout the year.

The United Palace of Spiritual Arts has offered free movie screenings since 2014, honoring the theatre's legacy as a 1930 vaudeville house and movie palace. Screenings are accompanied by live entertainment and activities to help the movie come alive.
